A banner of support is raised as the ball is kicked out of play in the tenth minute followed by a minute of applause in support of Denmark International Christian Eriksen, who experienced a cardiac arrest during the match against Finland during the UEFA Euro 2020 Championship Group B match between Denmark and Belgium at Parken Stadium on June 17, 2021 in Copenhagen, Denmark. SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Denmark played Belgium in Copenhagen, Belgium where tributes were paid to Denmark star Christain Eriksen who is recovering in hospital after suffering cardiac arrest in a game against Finland days earlier.

The tributes began when a giant jersey with the number 10 and “Eriksen” was brought onto the pitch before the game.

Then, shortly after the kickoff Denmark scored the game’s first goal when winger Yussuf Poulsen found the bottom left corner of the goal. The 20,000 strong crowd erupted into a frenzy. It was a moment of pure ecstasy as the rest of the watching world applauded. The noise was deafening.

In the 10th minute, the ball was kicked out of play to allow the players and the crowd to applaud for a minute as another show of support to the recovering Denmark international.

“That will be the queue for an evasion that reflects the fragility of the human condition and our ability to come together,” commentator Jon Champion said during the broadcast.
