Report: Damian Lillard Committed To Play For USA Basketball During Olympics

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Weber State and current Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard will reportedly play for USA Basketball during the Tokyo Olympics.
Damian Lillard is currently in his offseason after Portland was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, now he will focus on preparing to play for USA Basketball in the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Joe Vardon first reported the move by Lillard, along with Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.

Lillard dropped out of consideration for the 2016 Rio Games as Team USA won their third straight gold medal. Training camp for the Tokyo Games will begin on July 6 in Las Vegas with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. The roster is expected to be set later this month. Group stage play will go from July 25 to August 1, with the knockout stage going from August 3-7.
During the 2020-21 season, Lillard averaged 28.8 points, 7.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.
Draymond Green had his season end when the Golden State Warriors lost to the Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies in the Play-In Tournament. Green posted averages of 7 points, 8.9 assists and 7.1 rebounds per game. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive first team on Monday.
