SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The USMNT has taken the early lead against Costa Rica in their friendly thanks to an early goal from Brenden Aaronson.
Aaronson, 20, got on the end of a beautiful sequence and powered the ball into the top of the net in the sixth minute giving the Costa Rican goalkeeper no chance at keeping the ball out of the net.
Aaronson plays his club soccer for Austrian Bundesliga club Red Bull Salzburg and prior to this evening’s fixture had notched six caps for the USMNT.

Manager Gregg Berhalter opted for a changed lineup following the Nations League victory over Mexico on Sunday evening as Christian Pulisic, Sergiño Dest, Weston McKennie, and Gio Reyna all found themselves on the bench.
Real Salt Lake goalkeeper David Ochoa was also sidelined to the bench after Ethan Horvath’s terrific performance in the Nations League final warranted him another opportunity to represent his country in front of the local Utah fans.
