Real Salt Lake’s Albert Rusnak Left Off Slovakia EURO Roster

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake captain Albert Rusnak has been left off Slovakia’s Euro roster by Manager Pavel Hapal.
Slovakia originally listed 24 from a possible 26 players in their provisional roster a few weeks ago, with many assuming the two players missing from the team were Jan Gregus and Rusnak being the two that would be added after their two club teams met last weekend.
But that was not the case, Gregus will attend Euros and feature for his country. Rusnak will not.
The decision to leave Rusnak off the roster becomes even more strange when you consider the role he has played for Slovakia in the recent past.

Earlier this year in March he assisted Slovakia to results in the Group Stage of the World Cup Qualifiers and late last year he featured heavily in the Nations League. Rusnak started against Northern Ireland that ultimately sent Slovakia to the Euros.
Rusnak has been out of form with RSL thus far in 2021 and is yet to score or assist through the first six games of the year. But Rusnak has remained patient and continues to work every day to return to the form the fanbase expects from him.
“Coming in at 7;15 a.m. the same time as the staff, he is leading the way,” RSL Manager Freddy Juarez said on Rusnak’s work ethic.
Rusnak will be available for RSL when they return to action on June 18 against Vancouver Whitecaps. Rusnak will compete with Anderson Julio and newly signed Argentine winger Jonathan Menéndez for playing time.
