Jazz Big Man Rudy Gobert Blocks Memphis Star Ja Morant To Spark Big Run

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert blocked a layup attempt by Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs.
The Jazz had a strong defensive presence late in the first quarter when Rudy Gobert blocked Ja Morant. In the final two minutes of the first quarter, Morant was attacking the rim when Gobert blocked the shot away. At the time of that block, the Jazz were on a 6-0 run and had a 20-17 lead with 1:37 left in the opening period.
Utah ended the first quarter on a 10-0 run and had a 24-17 lead. That run reached 15-0 before Memphis finally snapped the drought but the Jazz had a 29-17 advantage.

During that 15-0 run, Georges Niang had four points, Mike Conley added five points, Jordan Clarkson hit a midrange jumper and Gobert dropped four points. The Jazz are without Donovan Mitchell, who was a late scratch after being evaluated for his ankle injury before Game 1.
