SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz tapped into their creative roots to give their star players a boost end the end-of-season award voting. The organization released a zine collection, or a group of small magazines, representing each player in consideration for one of the NBA’s major awards.
In total, Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Jordan Clarkson, Joe Ingles, and Royce O’Neale all got individual booklets printed to make their case for the end-of-season awards.
“Short for magazine, a zine is a publication of passion. Zines eschew the high-gloss mainstream fare for the specialized and unconventional,” an explanation of the booklet reads.
“And this Utah Jazz team has been anything but traditional. This season, the Utah Jazz took the league by storm, breaking franchise and NBA records. Utah was the first team to clinch a 2021 Playoff berth and is on pace to have one of the best seasons in the history of the organization.
“In your hands, you hold a set of five limited-edition zines that tell the stories of five players whose passion and prowess have made this a Utah Jazz team unlike any other.”

The Utah Jazz Zines
Rudy Gobert – DPOY and All-NBA
Gobert’s zine highlights a collection of precious stones from rubies, which offer safety, peace, and success, to quartz which resembles ice.
Like a ruby, Gobert offers the Jazz peace and success with his rim protection, and like quartz which resembles ice, the Jazz center keeps opposing teams shooting ice cold.

Donovan Mitchell – All-NBA
Mitchell’s zine examines the guard’s relationship to heat. The pages feature the sun, a chili pepper, a microwave, Death Valley, and molten lava.
The zine highlights Mitchell being tied with Bradley Beal as the second-highest scorer in the NBA after the All-Star break at 29.6 points per game.

Jordan Clarkson – Sixth Man of the Year
Appropriately, Clarkson’s zine is dedicated to different types of buckets, as the Jazz sixth man is one of the best bucket-getters in the NBA off the bench this season.
From a mop bucket, to an ice bucket, to a milk bucket, Clarkson knows how to clean up on the floor, and make baskets “until the cows come home.”

Joe Ingles – Sixth Man of the Year
Unsurprisingly, Ingles zine focuses on different types of coffee and coffee makers.
From french press, to drip, to cold brew, Ingles shooting ability knows how to wake up the Jazz offense.

Royce O’Neale – NBA All-Defensive Team
O’Neale’s zine is dedicated to all different types of locks.
The zine mentions bike locks, padlocks, and rim locks, highlight O’Neale’s ability to lock down the opposing team’s best scorers.
