SANDY, Utah – RSL took a 2-1 lead over Sporting Kansas City in their home opener at Rio Tinto Stadium following a goal by Rubio Rubin.
It’s the first career MLS goal for Rubio Rubin and it gave RSL the lead in the second half over their rival. He had two assists in the season opening win over Minnesota United FC last week.
In the 52nd minute, Damir Kreilach was at the top of the box when he went to Rubin in the box and he finished with a blast of his right foot that found the back of the net.
Rubio Rubin opens his account on home turf in front of his parents for the first time in his career. Special.
