SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz will increase the fan capacity allowed at Vivint Arena to 6,700 when they host the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night.

The team had been allowing 5,600 fans to attend games since March 12. The team opened the season by allowing 1,500 fans to watch the games in person and has incrementally allowed more fans throughout the year.

“Beginning on May 1 in coordination with the Utah Department of Health and NBA, the socially distanced seating capacity will be about 6,700 fans for Jazz home games at Vivint Arena,” the team announced.

“A limited number of courtside seats have been added for guests which will require proof o full vaccinations and a negative COVID-19 rapid test result. All current health and safety protocols, including mandatory masks and health screening, remain in place for entry into the building.”

According to a previous release, the team implemented several safety measures and protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including mandatory face coverings, mobile entry and screening procedures at all entrances, plexiglass barriers at point of sale locations, and social distancing signage.

“You’ll notice a variety of changes that have been implemented to create a safe, fun, and enjoyable experience. The changes include requiring masks for all attendees, contactless entry, a no bag policy, digital tickets, socially distanced seating and more.”

The arena has earned its Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) certification, an NBA requirement for return to play, for its cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention protocols.

To date, only the Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls, and Portland Trail Blazers have yet to allow fans to attend home games in person.

The Jazz have six home games remaining before the beginning the playoffs in mid-May.
