SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Zach Wilson and the New York Jets feel like a great fit. But is this new Jets regime going to be different than the organization that has struggled for all of these years?
After being selected No. 2 overall by the Gang Green, we got a glimpse into the new Jets regime when they called Zach Wilson for the first time as a member of the organization.

General Manager Joe Douglas, head coach Robert Saleh, and Jets Chairman Woody Johnson spoke to Wilson as he was set to become an official member of the organization.
The clip started with Douglas saying to Wilson, “It’s a once in a lifetime, man. When did you start playing football?” Wilson replied, “7 years old.”
Douglas continued, “Just remember, have fun. This is still the same game that you started playing when you were 7 years old. All you have to do is be yourself, man. Nothing more, nothing less.” Wilson then said, “I’m going to give you everything I got.”

The video then moved to Jets head coach Robert Saleh who had a strong, positive message for their new quarterback. “The biggest thing I want to tell you, just remember this. This organization is going to lift you, not the other way around. You feel me? What a friggin moment. It’ll be all gas from here on out.”
Then Chairman Woody Johnson had maybe the line of the video saying, “I probably know more about you than I know about my own kids.” Wilson and Johnson then showed a moment of laughter after that comment. When investing in a prospect that will gather a reported $35 million, yes, you probably should know everything there is to know about that guy. Sounds like Johnson and the Jets did their homework.
Now Wilson will look to reward that homework with success on Sundays this fall and in the years to come.
