SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Mike Conley appeared on ESPN’s The Jump and offered a promising update on his hamstring injury.

After missing six games in February, the Utah Jazz have been cautious with the guard’s injury, resting Conley on either end of back-to-back games throughout the season.

However, after playing 31 minutes on Monday night in a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Conley once again felt tightness in his hamstring and missed Wednesday night’s win over the Sacramento Kings.

It seems Jazz fans can breathe a sigh of relief after Conley updated host Rachel Nichols on his injury.

“It’s not as bad as people think at all,” Conley said. “A lot of it is just trying to make sure that I’m 100 percent and not going out there at 85-80 percent and have an opportunity to re-aggravate something.”

Despite the Phoenix Suns being hot on the Jazz heels with just 10 games remaining on the season, Conley said the team with more focused on health than their final standings to close the year.

“If it comes down to Donovan [Mitchell] taking a couple of extra days to get his ankle rested or myself taking one more game to get rested and healthy to make the stretch run and get ready for the playoffs, then we have to weigh that decision,” Conley said. “We want to be healthy going into our playoff appearance.”

Mitchell has missed six games for the Jazz since suffering an ankle sprain on April 16 and won’t be re-evaluated until the end of the week. The Jazz own a one-game lead over the Suns with the two teams facing off on Friday night with the winner taking control of the West heading into the final two weeks of the season.
