HURRICANE, Utah – Former BYU Women’s Golf star Kendra Dalton is in a tie for 25th entering Saturday’s final round at the Copper Rock Championship while former Dixie State product missed the cut by one shot.
Sturgeon Continued To Fight
Entering the round, Dalton was one-over-par while Sturgeon found the afternoon wind yesterday difficult and began Friday at seven-over-par.
However, Sturgeon, who teed off in the morning on Friday crawled her way back throughout the day.

A bogey on two was immediately followed by a birdie on three. Another birdie fell on the par 5 5th hole as Sturgeon was making her move. But, on the par 3 6th hole she found the Lava Rock, and her ball ricocheted away from the green and she consequently made double.
But as all good golfers do, she remained calm and concluded with a bogey-free round that included three birdies to finish at two-under-par for the day. Unfortunately, despite her late heroics with a birdie on 18, she missed the cut by one shot.
Dalton Navigates The Elements
Dalton, however, teed off in the afternoon as was dealt with the elements. The wind picked up around noon, right as she was teeing off, but that didn’t stop her from making birdie on one.
Bogeys fell on seven and nine and she made the turn at one-over-par. Yesterday, she notched back-to-back birdies on 12 and 13 and looked on track to do the same when she drained a birdie on 12. But she settled for par on 13 and moved on.
A front pin placement with a helping breeze made the pin on 17 difficult to gauge, but Dalton found a way to stick it to within 10 feet, she drained the putt and headed for 18 and one-under-par on the round.

But 18 and Dalton don’t seem to get along this week. Yesterday she made double bogey after finding trouble off the tee. Today, she found the fairway but sent her approach up the back of the green. She chipped on, two-putted, and ended with a bogey to close at even par and one-over-par for the tournament.
Dalton will be chasing the American Bailey Tardy who added to her lead and enters the final round at eight-under-par, four shots clear of the chasing pack.
Tee times for the final round are yet to be announced.
