Jay Hill, Weber State Football Players Receives Multiple Honors For Regular Season

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Big Sky Conference handed out multiple honors after the Weber State Wildcats wrapped up their 2021 regular season schedule this spring.
Weber State ended the regular season ranked No. 3 in the country and won the Big Sky to earn an automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs.
Jay Hill
The Wildcats were led by head coach Jay Hill, who was honored as Region Coach of the Year by the AFCA.
Hill led the Wildcats to an undefeated regular season with a 5-0 record.

Conner Mortensen
The Big Sky honored Weber State linebacker Conner Mortensen as the league’s Defensive Player of the Year for the spring season.
During the regular season, the senior from Overton, Nevada had 44 total tackles, 30 solo tackles, 1.0 sacks, one interception, four quarterback hits, and four pass breakups in five games.

Dontae McMillan
In addition to Mortensen’s recognition, Weber State running back Dontae McMillan was honored co-Big Sky Freshman of the Year.
McMillan ran the ball 49 times for 308 yards and five touchdowns.

Other Weber State Players Honored
Weber State led all Big Sky schools with 13 players named to the All-Conference team.
The Wildcats had nine players that earned first team all-conference honors. Five players were selected as unanimous picks and three players earned the honor for the third time in their college careers.
Mortensen, Josh Davis, Jared Schiess, Rashid Shaheed and Ty Whitworth were unanimous first team selections.

Weber State will host Southern Illinois in the first round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday, April 24. The game will kick-off at 2 p.m. (MDT).
