SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah football program released photos of special helmets the team will wear in the spring game to honor Ty Jordan.

The helmets come in two different colors, crimson and white, and have a special design to honor Utah running back Ty Jordan.

On Thursday night, Utah football tweeted out photos of the helmets that will be worn in the spring game on Saturday. On one side of the helmet, Utah has the drum and feather Utah logo. On the other side is the number two on the right side and then another number two that is backwards that makes a heart. In the middle of the heart is the letters LLTJ which stands for Long Live Ty Jordan.

Just below the heart with the number 22 – which was Jordan’s number as a freshman at Utah – is the block U logo.

It’s unknown if the special helmets will be a permanent thing moving forward or if they will only be around for the 2021 season or if this is just for the spring football game.

The Utah equipment staff also released the uniform combinations for the game. The red team will wear the red helmet with red jerseys and white pants. On the other side, the black team will wear white helmets with black uniforms and white pants.

Fans will be allowed to attend the Utah spring football game as the athletic department announced 6,500 tickets were sold with all of the proceeds going towards the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship fund.

Jordan tragically died on Christmas night in Denton, Texas near his hometown to an accidental self-inflicted gun shot wound. In his freshman season with the Utes, Jordan rushed for 597 yards and six touchdowns. He was named Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-American by 247Sports.
