SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake is predicted to finish 26th in Major League Soccer, according to MLSSoccer.com‘s latest article. For the record, there are only 27 clubs within the league.
The only club that MLS predicts to be worse than RSL in 2021 is CF Montréal.
“Corey Baird left for LAFC, Kyle Beckerman retired and Bobby Wood hasn’t yet joined up with the team, though could be doing so earlier than expected. Deep breaths, y’all. It could be a moment before things get settled in Utah,” the article stated.

Without question, RSL is looking to escape the darkest days of its history following the 2020 season. But given the work of the front office this offseason, and the talent that he been brought into the organization, RSL is more likely to make the playoffs than they are to finish as the second-worst team in the league.
Furthermore, the recent 2021 Visit Tucson Sun Cup victory suggests that RSL is playing an exciting brand of soccer. They look creative, explosive, and rejuvenated. Granted, the Visit Tucson Sun Cup is only a preseason tournament and very little can be taken from the results in Tucson.
RSL has a team that is good enough to contend. Despite the losses of Kyle Beckerman and Nedum Onuoha from a season ago, the club has attracted a number of very entertaining and creative players that will likely produce far more goals from a season ago.
Rubio Rubin and Anderson Julio are formidable playmakers for RSL this year, they will make a noticeable impact.
RSL will not finish where MLSSoccer.com predicts them too, fortunately.
