SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – NFL Network host Rich Eisen knows the ins and outs of the NFL. Especially his beloved New York Jets. Eisen, a diehard Jets fan, discussed BYU quarterback Zach Wilson and the Jets No. 2 selection coming up in this month’s NFL Draft on his daily radio program, “The Rich Eisen Show.”
All reports and mock drafts seem to indicate that Wilson is headed to the Jets. Leaving Jets fans to be all in on the pick. Eisen knows where this is headed among the J-E-T-S fans.
“Less than 1% of Jets fans have seen BYU play football!”

“I can personally guarantee you, personally guarantee you, that if you had to take the percentage of Jets fans who are gonna be head over heels in love, and falling in love with Zach Wilson because they’ve been told how great he is; that’s got to be about 99 percent of Jets fans because we’re getting ready to do it again. We’re getting ready to hit that reset button and do it again.”
The Jets have struggled to find their star quarterback the past decade. Mark Sanchez led the Jets to back-to-back AFC Championship games in 2009 and 2010 as talented teams under coach Rex Ryan surrounded him. But that was short-lived.
With Sam Darnold now traded to Carolina, and with a new head coach, new offensive coordinator, and loads of draft capital over the next two drafts, the reset is here once again for New York.
Less than 1% of Jets fans have watched Zach Wilson, BYU Football
Jets fans are looking their Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes to fall through the sky as it did for the Patriots and the Chiefs in the Draft. So their hopes lie in Zach Wilson. For those on this site, who are BYU fans, you’ve seen Wilson and know why he has emerged as the No. 2 pick. However, fans in New York probably haven’t seen the heralded BYU signal-caller, as Eisen points out.
“I would be stunned if this isn’t a complete and total fact. Less than 1% of Jets fans have seen BYU play football. Honestly, I don’t know how many Jets fans are out there like, ‘You know, let me settle in and see what BYU’s up to today.’ Honestly.
Eisen continued, “And I’m saying, less than this percentage have seen BYU play from start to finish, like an entire game. They might have watched Coastal Carolina maybe for a few snaps this year because ‘I hear there’s a big game on. I don’t know who these people are.'”
Rich Eisen explains the only things Jets fans know about BYU & the state of Utah
It’s not often the state of New York and Utah cross paths, especially in football. Eisen explained the only things that maybe Jets fans know about BYU and the state of Utah. I don’t know many New Yorkers, but I have to imagine Rich Eisen is spot on with this one.
“The only thing they know about BYU and the state of Utah is like Mitt Romney, Steve Young, and maybe the Osmond family. …Obviously, Karl Malone and the Utah Jazz. They’ve heard of that. Right? That’s it. But we’re all in on this guy. Honestly, nobody’s seen this guy play football in New York City. The first game of Zach Wilson’s they’ll watch from start to finish of his entire life will be his first start as a New York Jet. But we’re all in.”
