5A Coach Of The Year: Holli Averett, Springville
Averett led the Red Devils to a 22-2 record in 2021, which ended with a buzzer-beating layup to beat Farmington in the 5A Championship game. She is in her second season as the head coach and has taken Springville to the championship game both seasons.
5A Legacy Award: Macie And Maddie Warren, Lehi
The Game Night Live crew mentioned that you can’t talk about 5A girls basketball over the last four years without talking about the Warren twins from Lehi.
It was a great season for the Pioneers, finishing with a 20-4 record before falling to Springville in the semifinals. Lehi reached the semifinals in 2020 after a 23-1 record. Then in 2019, they went 21-4 with another loss in the semifinals and once again in 2018 in 4A. This past season, the Warren twins were the top two scoring leaders for the Pioneers. Maddie averaged 13.3 points and Macie averaged 12 points per game.
