Real Salt Lake Ranks Amongst League Worst 2021 ESPN Kit Rankings
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – ESPN has compiled their 2021 Major League Soccer kit power rankings and Real Salt Lake ranked towards the bottom of the league.
RSL came in at a disappointing 20th out of a possible 27 team list. ESPN was less than impressed with the latest RSL kit reveal.
A surprising ranking considering the recent jersey reveal provided the second-most sales in club history, an RSL spokesman told KSL Sports soccer insider Tom Hackett.
“The “Supporter’s Secondary” kit features a gray graphic pattern that covers the entirety of the jersey, with elements that are taken from the club’s imagery, the local environment and the fans’ SLC Punk attitude. It’s a strong theme, but one that’s a little harder for the uninitiated to pick up on,” the article stated.
The only clubs that ranked worse than RSL are DC United, Colombus Crew, San Jose Earthquakes, Houston Dynamo, Portland Timbers, Toronto FC, and New England Revolution.
The top kit, according to ESPN, was the Philadelphia Union who unveiled a groovy sky blue kit that features lighting bolts. The kit is inspired by one of Philadelphia’s greatest sons, Benjamin Franklin, and his famous “kite experiment”.
The LA Galaxy, Chicago Fire, Vancouver Whitecaps, and Seattle Sounders round out the top five of the list.
Remaining Preseason Schedule
RSL is currently in Tucson, Arizona putting their final touches on the preseason. The club is expected to play two more practice matches against Phoenix Rising and LA Galaxy on April 7th and 10th respectively.
The club will then return to Utah and spend two weeks concluding preseason before their first game of the 2021 season on April 24th on the road against Minnesota United. Their home opener will take place on May 1st against arch-rivals Sporting Kansas City.
The KSL TV app and KSLSports.com will stream every regular season match on the 2021 calendar. The final preseason game against LA Galaxy will also be available for RSL fans to stream.
