Game Night Live Rewind: 6A Boys Basketball End Of Season Awards

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Great basketball was played throughout the state an in particular the 6A classification in boys high school basketball.
The Game Night Live Rewind crew handed out their end of season awards, including the Team of the Year, the 6A MVP and the Coach of the Year.
6A MVP: Jaxon Kohler, American Fork
Jaxon Kohler was a dominant force this season for the Cavemen. He recorded averages of 21.5 points, 8.9 rebounds and one steal per game. Kohler ranked eighth in the state in scoring (2nd in 6A) and rebounding (2nd in 6A).
American Fork finished the season with a 17-7 record, while reaching the 6A semifinals before falling to Westlake.

6A Boys Team Of The Year: Westlake Thunder
Westlake had a record-setting season in 2020-21. They won the Region 4 title for the first time in school history and reached the state championship game before falling to Davis. The Thunder had to play the last 11 games without their leading scorer Hunter Phillips, who suffered a season-ending injury.
Westlake finished the season with a 21-4 record, losing to Corner Canyon, American Fork, Pleasant Grove and Davis. When they suffered their first loss of the year, they went on to win 16 straight games. The Thunder won 13 games by double digits.
6A Co-Coach Of The Year: Chad Sims, Davis
Chad Sims led the Davis Darts to a 22-4 record this season and beat No. 1 seed Westlake in the 6A state championship game. The Darts lost their first two games of the season to Pleasant Grove and Corner Canyon before winning their next five games. That streak was snapped when they lost to Bingham. Then they rattled off five straight again before falling to Layton.
They finished the season winning 12 straight games. Davis won 16 of their 26 games by double digits.

6A Co-Coach Of The Year: Nate Carling, Westlake
Nate Carling led the Westlake Thunder to their first region title and their first state championship game appearance. They had a 21-4 record before ultimately losing to Davis in the championship game.
