SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau, alongside the Tony Finau Foundation, has announced a new initiative titled “Birdies For Books” where Finau will donate 25 books for every birdie he makes on the PGA Tour through the remainder of this season, helping underprivileged kids have access to books.
Furthermore, for every eagle Finau makes he will donate 50 books and if he is fortunate enough to sink a hole-in-one he will donate 100 books.
“Reading books changed my life! I want our youth everywhere to have access to books and tutors through this initiative. Reading is one of the best ways to obtain knowledge,” Finau said via a video posted on Twitter.
We’re kicking off a new initiative – Birdies for Books! For every birdie putt @tonyfinaugolf makes on the @pgatour, we’ll donate 25 books to kids and schools in need. For every eagle putt, we’ll double it!

Finau admitted that his parents always pushed him to read as a child, which he was not overly fond of. But as he grew older, he has found a passion for reading. He reads frequently nowadays and believes the power behind reading is worth advocating.
“Reading is powerful and I want to help kids hopefully across the globe not only have the resources to read but to also teach them to read. That is something really important to me,” Finau added.
