Fremont Girls Basketball Team To Participate In Nationals

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Fremont High School Girls Basketball Team will be heading to Florida to play in the GEICO National Tournament.
After winning the 6A state championship and ending the season with an undefeated 26-0 record, Fremont will play in Fort Meyers, Florida. It’s the 13th annual GEICO nationals that will be held at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
Fremont will participate in the tournament for the second time in school history. Their first appearance was in 2014 when they finished second.

They are one of four girls basketball programs to play in the tournament and are ranked No. 15 in the nation. The other three schools participating includes Westlake High School (Georgia), who is No. 2 in the country, No. 3 Lake Highland Prep (Florida) and No. 4 Paul VI High School (Virginia).
The Silverwolves have three players that are ranked in the ESPNW rankings. Junior Timea Gardiner is No. 4, sophomore Maggie Mendelson is No. 21 and BYU commit Emma Calvert is No. 74.
Fremont will face Westlake on Friday, April 2 at 10:30 a.m. MT on ESPNU.
The state of Utah will have a school participating on the boys basketball side. Powerhouse Wasatch Academy is 18-6 this season and ranked No. 10 in the country. It will be their fourth appearance in the national tournament. They will face No. 4 AZ Compass Prep on Thursday, April 1 at 4 p.m. MT on ESPNU.
