Utah Football Releases Depth Chart, Roster For Spring Practices

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah will begin spring football practice on Monday, March 15 in the afternoon as position battles start to take place and young guys compete for reps.

Utah has basically a different room at the quarterback position with the exception of Cam Rising heading into spring football. Rising will not participate in spring practice as he is still recovering from surgery in the fall of 2020.

The Utes released their spring depth chart and roster. For the depth chart, Kyle Whittingham said to not put too much stock into it during spring. He was particularly talking about the quarterback depth chart but this applies for every position.

“We typically just put a two deep down unless there’s a situation where two guys are on equal footing,” Whittingham said. “But it’s just a very raw early speculation on how we’re going in and what we feel is the pecking order right now. That could change dramatically as guys start to take reps. So really nothing to read into that other than we don’t have any guys coming back other than Cam who will not be participating. We don’t list guys on the two deep who will not be participating in spring ball. So we’ll just do best guess scenario and let it sort itself out.”
