LOGAN, Utah – The Utah State Aggies are going to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season as a No. 11 seed in the south region in Indianapolis.
Utah State will face No. 6 seed Texas Tech out of the Big 12 Conference in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The game will take place on Friday. The Aggies were a bubble team for the last couple of weeks and had to sweat out Selection Sunday after losing to San Diego State in the Mountain West Tournament title game on Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas.
This will be the fifth meeting between these two schools. The Aggies are 2-2 against the Red Raiders. USU won the first meeting in 1973, before Texas Tech won the matchup in Lubbock, Texas in December of 1973. They met again in 1976 with Utah State picking up the win. Their last meeting was in 2016 with Utah State falling to the Red Raiders.
No. 11 Utah State will face No. 6 Texas Tech on Friday in Indianapolis.

It’s the third straight season that the Aggies have reached the NCAA Tournament. In 2019, they were an 8-seed and lost to No. 9 Washington in their tournament opener. Then they won the Mountain West Conference Tournament for the second consecutive season in 2020 but didn’t get a chance to play in the tournament as it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
