Weber State Wins Home Opener Over UC Davis After Second Half Comeback

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State football team won its spring home opener after a second half comeback over the UC Davis Aggies.
The No. 2 Wildcats hosted the No. 23 Aggies at Stewart Stadium on Saturday, March 13.
Weber State outscored UC Davis by 15 points in the second half to win, 18-13.

First Half
During the first 20 minutes of action, the Wildcats and Aggies were engaged in a low scoring affair.
UC Davis scored the game’s first touchdown late in the opening quarter.
The Aggies tacked on three points before halftime to own a 10-0 lead at the break.

During the first two quarters, Weber State was limited to 56 yards of total offense.
Second Half
In the third quarter, the Wildcats kicked things into a higher gear.
The Wildcats’ first touchdown came on a run from Dontae McMillan, which was followed up by a successful two-point conversion.

With 3:29 left in quarter, Daniel Wright Jr. powered his way across the goal line for a touchdown.

Weber State’s 15 unanswered points ultimately propelled the Wildcats to a win.
During the fourth quarter, each team connected on a field goal.
Weber State’s defense locked down UC Davis and forced two interceptions as the Wildcats held on for the victory.

Winning Wildcats
Weber State quarterback Bronson Barron finished the game 13/29 passing for 126 yards. He also ran the ball six times for 18 yards.

The Wildcats combined for 121 rushing yards between five players.
Josh Davis led the team with 20 carries for 71 yards.
Wright Jr. ran the ball three times for 22 yards and a touchdown.
McMillan had four carries for 10 yards and a touchdown.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 in Big Sky Conference games.
Weber State’s next game is against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Saturday, March 27 at 12 p.m. (MDT).
