SUU Falls Short Of Big Sky Title Game With Overtime Loss To Montana State

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Southern Utah men’s basketball team fell short of reaching the Big Sky Conference Tournament title game with an overtime loss to the Montana State Bobcats.
The No. 1 seed T-Birds and No. 5 Bobcats played in the Big Sky semifinal round at Idaho Central Arena in Boise, Idaho on Friday, March 12.
SUU fell short of Montana State during an extra five minutes of action, 80-77.

After the first 20 minutes of action, the Thunderbirds took a 10-point advantage in the locker room.
In the second half, the Bobcats bounced back to take a late lead over Southern Utah.
The Thunderbirds closed out the final minutes of action to tie the contest at 69 apiece.
In overtime, Montana State took a quick lead and held on to secure a three-point victory and a spot in the Big Sky tourney championship game.

Southern Utah finished the contest shooting 41.4 percent overall and 44.0 percent on three-pointers.
The T-Birds were carried by Maizen Fausett’s 22 points on 8-13 field goals.

Harrison Butler came off the SUU bench and added 16 points.
Montana State ended shooting 42.9 percent from the field, including 36.8 percent from downtown.
Amin Adamu scored a game-high 29 points.

The loss moved Southern Utah’s 2020-21 record to 20-4 and 12-3 in Big Sky contests.
