SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake will be well represented at the under-23 level when three current and five former Academy players prepare to represent their country with hopes of going to the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games.
David Ochoa, Aaron Herrera, and Justen Glad all made the final 20-man team, while, former Academy players Sebastian Soto and Sebastian Saucedo also made the team.
“Anytime we’re both at a camp we spend most of our time off the field with each other. So it’s always nice. Having someone that you’ve been close with for a while at the same camp definitely makes the whole experience a lot, a lot quicker and a lot easier,” Herrera said regarding Ochoa and Glad being selected alongside him.

The tournament will start on March 18th when the United States plays Costa Rica in the first game of the group stage. The USA will then play the Dominican Republic on March 21st before ending the group stage with a blockbuster fixture against Mexico on March 24.
“We are thrilled to see Justen, Aaron, and David continue with the U-23s. We wish them luck in the tournament,” RSL General Manager Elliot Fall said. “We are excited to see them represent the United States, Real Salt Lake, and the RSL Academy in a successful Olympic Qualifying tournament.”
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals. The two teams who win the semifinals will not only make the final of the tournament but will also earn a spot to represent their country at the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament at the Tokyo Summer Games.
Glad and Herrera have both represented the USA at the U-23 level, however, this will be the first appearance for Ochoa.
The Under-23 team will be coached by former RSL manager Jason Kreis.
