Real Salt Lake Striker Douglas Martinez Named To Honduras Olympic Qualifying Roster

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake striker Douglas Martinez has been named to the Honduras roster bound for CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying.
Martinez has been named to the final 20-man Honduras roster bound for the upcoming Olympic Qualifying tournament. He will miss the entire month of March with the national team.

Honduras will face Canada, El Salvador, and Haiti during the Group Stage with the first match on March 19. The winner of each of the two qualifying groups will make the semifinal match. The two teams who reach the championship match will automatically qualify for this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Martinez has been playing for Honduras in a number of micro camps, he most recently scored for Honduras in a 1-1 friendly against Costa Rica.
“The selfish part of me wishes he [Martinez] was with us during preseason training,” Juarez said. “However, I know that he is training every day, he is not injured and he is further developing as a professional at a very high level.”
Immediately following the upcoming tournament, Martinez will return to Utah and embark on his third season with Real Salt Lake.
