“Attacks on the Asian community, while not new, have been on the rise since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The increased violent hate crimes against members of the Asian community are abhorrent and must come to an end,” the league states.
Recently, images and videos have surfaced showcasing hatred crimes being committed on minorities specifically, Asian, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders.
The hashtag #StopAsianHate has been created to further support minority groups that are experiencing hate crimes.
“Part of the solution is education. To learn more, resources are available at stopaapihate.org,” MLS concluded with.
“In response to the alarming escalation in xenophobia and bigotry resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Asian Pacific Planning and Policy Council (A3PCON), Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA), and the Asian American Studies Department of San Francisco State University launched the Stop AAPI Hate reporting center on March 19, 2020,” the official website listed above states.
“The center tracks and responds to incidents of hate, violence, harassment, discrimination, shunning, and child bullying against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.”
