SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The WCC Tournament is expected to be played as scheduled. After reports weeks ago that some of the top teams were considering opting out of the annual league tourney, an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament will be given out to the champion.
No fans will be allowed to attend The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas for the 2021 WCC Tournament due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Last year, Gonzaga defeated Saint Mary’s in the conference tournament final, two days before the college basketball world shut down due to the pandemic.
Gonzaga secured the No. 1 seed in this year’s field after navigating the entire regular season with a perfect undefeated record. BYU basketball finished the WCC schedule with a 10-3 record, and like Gonzaga, will have a bye all the way to semifinal Monday.
Pepperdine edged out Saint Mary’s for the No. 3 seed and the Waves, who defeated BYU once this year, are on the Cougars side of the bracket.
The one team that is a question mark at the moment in regards to COVID-19 is the Portland Pilots. Portland on Thursday took a pause and their status for the league tournament is in question.
