Utah Valley Sweeps UTRGV Series With Senior Night Win

OREM, Utah – The Utah Valley Wolverines honored their only senior with a 73-64 win over UTRGV, sweeping the series on Saturday night at the UCCU Center.
Fardaws Aimaq led Utah Valley with 16 points and 16 rebounds in their win over UTRGV. Jamison Overton added 14 points, while Evan Cole notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Cole was the lone senior that the Wolverines honored on Saturday night.
UT Rio Grande Valley was led by Uche Dibiamaka with 17 points. Javon Levi chipped in 15 points. Anthony Bratton had 14 points off the bench and Marek Nelson posted 10 points in the loss.

Utah Valley outscored UTRGV 38-27 in the first half before the Vaqueros had 37 second half points and limited the Wolverines to 35 points. UVU shot 40 percent (23-57) from the field, 46 percent (7-15) from the three-point line and 71 percent (20-28) at the free throw line.
UTRGV shot 41 percent (26-63) from the floor, 47 percent (8-17) from beyond the arc and just 4-of-8 from the foul line. UVU outrebounded them 48-29, while dishing out 17 assists. The Vaqueros had 15 assists and just 9 turnovers.
Utah Valley improved their record to 10-9 overall and 8-3 in Western Athletic Conference play. They will play their final two regular season games on the road against Grand Canyon. The two-game series will begin on Friday, March 5 and the second game will be played on Saturday, March 6. Both games will begin at 7 p.m. MST and will be streamed on the WAC Digital Network.
