SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Yet again, Tony Finau is in contention following a four-under-par opening round at the WGC Workday Championship to sit two shots off the lead.
Finau, who enters the week having rattled off three consecutive second-place finishes, is playing some of the best golf of his career and to nobody’s surprise is showcasing that again this week at The Concession Golf Club in Florida.

Finau made the turn at two-under-par after birdies on the par-five third hole and the par-four eighth hole. His back nine was far more eventful.
A birdie on 10 dropped him to three-under-par, however, his first bogey appeared after a three-putt on hole 11 but he was immediately able to recover with a birdie on 13, and 15.
On the 18th hole, he hit his drive errant and was left with a par putt from 20 feet. Fortunately, he drained the putt to provide more momentum entering Friday’s round.
He concluded at four-under-par for a first-round score of 68.
