PROVO, Utah – Good things come to those BYU basketball fans who wait. BYU Athletics announced that for the first time this season, a limited amount of fans would be able to attend BYU men’s basketball’s final two home games of the 2020-21 season at the Marriott Center.

The entire season has been played amidst the novel Coronavirus pandemic, leaving the Marriott Center empty this year besides the players and coaches’ friends and family.

That will change this week.

On Thursday, BYU will host San Francisco. On Saturday, BYU’s senior night, the Cougars will close out the regular-season against WCC rival Saint Mary’s.

BYU Basketball in front of fans in 2020-21 season

BYU has only had two games this season with paying customers in the stands. Both were victories against Utah State on December 5 in Logan (1,628) and against Weber State on December 23 at the Vivint Arena, home of the Utah Jazz (1,500).

The largest crowd since December 23 was probably BYU/Gonzaga on February 8, with the number of friends and family from both teams in attendance at the Marriott Center. But the official attendance figure was still announced as zero due to no tickets sold.

BYU is currently 17-5 overall on the season, and 8-3 in West Coast Conference play. The Cougars are comfortably in the NCAA Tournament as an at-large bid. BracketMatrix.com has BYU projected as an 8-seed and listed in all 100 bracketology projections.
