Southern Utah Starters Combine For 60 Points As Thunderbirds Win Fifth Straight Game

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah’s five starters combined for 60 points and helped carry the Thunderbirds to a win over the Sacramento State Hornets.
The Thunderbirds hosted the Hornets on Saturday, February 20.
Ivan Madunic, Maizen Fausett, John Knight III, Tevian Jones, and Dre Marin combined for 60 of SUU’s points in a 77-57 blowout victory against Sacramento State.
The result stretched SUU’s current winning streak to five games.

Knight ended the contest tied for a game-high 16 points on 8-11 field goals.
The T-Birds finished shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 25.9 percent on triples.

Sacramento State was held to 41.4 percent shooting, including only 17.6 percent from beyond the arc.
Ethan Esposito led the Hornets with 16 points.
With the season sweep over Sacramento State, the Thunderbirds improved to a record of 15-3 on the season and 8-2 in Big Sky Conference games.

Southern Utah’s next game is against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Wednesday, February 24 at 7 p.m. (MDT).
