PROVO, Utah – BYU football and the USF Bulls will be very familiar with one another the next three seasons.

The Cougars and Bulls announced a two-game extension of their football series through the 2023 season. This will be an additional two games on top of the home-and-home series that includes BYU’s home game this upcoming season in 2021.

The last time USF and BYU met on the football field was the first-ever meeting between the two programs in 2019. South Florida won that game, 27-23, in Jaren Hall’s first-ever start as quarterback for BYU.

When BYU last faced USF, the Bulls were coached by former Louisville and Texas head coach Charlie Scott. Now Jeff Scott, a former co-offensive coordinator at Clemson under Dabo Swinney, is leading the Bulls. USF was winless against FBS competition in his first season as coach in 2020.

The first date of the two-game extension between the two programs will kickoff each team’s 2022 season. BYU will travel to USF for a season-opening Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, tilt in Raymond James Stadium, home of the Bulls and Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

USF will then make a return trip to Provo the following season on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

BYU now has 11 games scheduled for the 2022 football season. Six of the games are scheduled to be played in Provo, with five on the road, including USF.

The Cougars 2023 slate now has a full 12-game schedule in place.
