SLC Stars Waive Jake Toolson After Suffering Season Ending Foot Injury

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Salt Lake City Stars have waived former BYU guard Jake Toolson after he suffered a season ending foot injury in the G-League bubble.
Jake Toolson appeared in just one game for the SLC Stars down in the G-League bubble in Orlando, Florida.
Toolson made his G-League debut on February 10 as he appeared in the starting lineup for the Stars in their loss to the Erie Bayhawks. He had 5 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in 19 minutes.
The announcement came on social media. Toolson added “Always a lesson, never a loss. Thanks for the opportunity SLC Stars.”

The Gilbert, Arizona native had a tremendous college career. It started at BYU from 2014-16 before he transferred to Utah Valley from 2017-19. At UVU, Toolson earned first team All-WAC twice and was the Conference Player of the Year in 2019.
Toolson followed head coach Mark Pope from UVU back to BYU, where he earned WCC Newcomer of the Year in 2020.
