Weber State Bounces Back With Big Road Win Over Montana

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State Wildcats picked up a big road win and split the two-game series with a 91-82 victory over Montana on Saturday afternoon.
Weber State outscored Montana 55-48 in the second half in order to pick up the road win and the the split. Isiah Brown led the Wildcats with a game-high 21 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Seikou Sisoho Jawara added 14 points. Dontay Bassett, Michal Kozak and Dillon Jones scored 13 points apiece.
Five Montana players scored in double figures led by Josh Vazquez with 17 points. Cameron Parker chipped in 15 points off the bench. Kyle Owens had 12 points and 4 rebounds, while both Brandon Whitney and Josh Bannan dropped 10 points apiece.

After shooting 44 percent in their 80-67 loss to the Grizzlies on Thursday night, Weber State bounced back in the first half on Saturday by shooting 57 percent by making 12 of their 21 field goal attempts. It was a tremendous first half for Dontay Bassett, who had 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor.
The problem for the Wildcats in the first 20 minutes of the game on Saturday was committing 10 turnovers. Montana scored 15 points off of turnovers. The Grizzlies made 46 percent of their field goals. Weber State took a 36-34 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, Weber made a run that gave them a nine-point lead with 3:58 remaining in the game. Montana didn’t fold as they cut the deficit to five points before Michal Kozak hit a big jumper along the baseline.

Weber State was able to close out Montana by making their free throws down the stretch.
The Wildcats improved to 12-5 overall and 7-3 in Big Sky Conference play. They will return home to face Northern Arizona in a two-game series beginning on Thursday, February 18. Then the rematch will take place on Saturday, February 20. Tip-off for Thursday’s contest will be at 7 p.m. MST and Saturday will start at 12 p.m. MST. Both games can be streamed on Pluto TV channel 1054 and heard on 103.1 FM “The Wave.”
