SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – One of the biggest storylines in the 2021 NFL draft is the battle for the assumed No. 2 QB spot between Zach Wilson and Justin Fields.
While everyone debates which quarterback goes after the assumed No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence, the two talented prospects are training in Southern California together.
Wilson, Fields, and Florida’s Kyle Trask are all currently training at 3DQB, where John Beck works. 3DQB CEO Adam Dedeaux shared photos of all three quarterbacks, including one of Wilson and Fields giving each other a fist bump.

Dedeaux’s 3DQB featuring Tom House, Beck, and Taylor Kelly has worked with football’s top quarterbacks, including seven-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady. Wilson has been working with 3DQB since the summer before his freshman year at BYU in 2018.
Generating more force through the body, off-platform throws, touch passes, footwork, timing routes have all been staples of what Beck and 3DQB have coached Wilson on during training over the years. That training was instrumental in Wilson’s meteoric rise up draft boards over the past year.
Zach Wilson and Justin Fields gearing up for the 2021 NFL Draft
Zach Wilson and Fields haven’t crossed paths in their football careers before this pre-draft process. Now each guy is training together on the same field for the most significant job interviews of their lives.
Last season, Wilson put up 3,692 yards and tossed 33 touchdowns to only three interceptions, leading BYU to its highest final ranking (No. 11) since 1996. In an abbreviated season, Fields led Ohio State to the National Championship Game before falling to Alabama. Fields passed for 2,100 yards and threw 22 touchdowns and six interceptions.
The 2021 NFL draft takes place Thursday, April 29th, and runs through Saturday, May 1st, in Cleveland, Ohio. BYU football has its 2021 Pro Day scheduled for March 26th.
