Southern Utah Remains Unbeaten At Home With Blowout Win Over SDCC

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Southern Utah Thunderbirds remained undefeated at home in 2020-21 with a 109-50 blowout win over SDCC on Tuesday afternoon.
The win over SDCC put Southern Utah at 11-0 at the America First Event Center this season.
Four Thunderbirds scored in double figures, led by Dre Marin with 21 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Harrison Butler and Dee Barnes each dropped 14 points, while Tevian Jones had 10 points in 14 minutes.
“We’re showing competitive maturity, and playing well by focusing on us in these games,” SUU head coach Todd Simon said following the win. “We played 13 guys double-digit minutes and I think we’re just showing our depth.”

15 players appeared in the game for SUU and all but two scored. They outscored SDCC 54-21 in the first half and 55-29 in the second half. The Thunderbirds shot 56 percent (42-75) from the field, 40 percent (13-32) from the three-point line and 80 percent (12-15) at the free throw line. They made 61 percent of their field goal attempts in the second half.
SDCC had two players score in double figures with Teyden Gause leading the way with 20 points. Jermain Camacho added 17 points. Southern Utah had a 58-16 advantage in points in the paint.
The Thunderbirds improved their record to 13-3 overall. They will return to Big Sky play, where they are 6-2, when they host Sacramento State for a two-game series beginning on Thursday, February 18 and Saturday, February 20. The game on Thursday will start at 7 p.m. MST and Saturday will tip-off at 12 p.m. MST. Both contests will be streamed on Pluto TV channel 1055.
