Dixie State Struggles Offensively in Loss To Seattle U

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Dixie State men’s basketball team struggled offensively in their 77-56 loss to the Seattle U Redhawks on Saturday night in St. George.
Dixie State shot just 33 percent (19-57) from the field, 22 percent (4-18) from the three-point line and 70 percent (14-20) from the free throw line in their loss to Seattle U.
Cameron Gooden led the Trailblazers with 17 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the floor and 2-for-6 from beyond the arc. Hunter Schofield added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. They were the only two players for Dixie State that scored in double figures and had a combined 32 of their 56 points.

The Redhawks outscored Dixie State 36-25 in the first half and 41-31 in the second half. Seattle was led by Darrion Trammell with 30 points. Aaron Nettles added 16 points. They shot 42 percent (24-57) from the floor, 37 percent (10-27) from the three-point line and 70 percent (19-27) from the free throw line.
The Trailblazers couldn’t complete the sweep over Seattle after completing a double-digit comeback in the second half on Friday to pick up the 77-76 win.
Dixie State dropped their record to 6-9 overall and 2-6 in Western Athletic Conference play. They will hit the road for their final road series of the regular season when they will battle Utah Valley beginning on Friday, February 12 at 6 p.m. MST. Then they will square off on Saturday, February 13 at 6 p.m. MST. Both games can been streamed on the KSL TV app.
