New BYU Women’s Volleyball Libero Digs Her Way To SportsCenter Top 10 Play

PROVO, Utah – One of the top storylines entering the 2021 BYU Women’s Volleyball spring season was, who would replace Mary Lake at Libero?
Through three matches, BYU has already received an answer. True freshman Madi Allen is a rising star for Heather Olmstead’s program.
On Thursday night, Allen showed why she is a star in the making at the libero spot.
Against Utah Valley in Orem, Allen displayed an incredible sequence of digs against the Wolverines on a rally that ultimately ended with a point for BYU.

Allen finished the match with 20 digs, increasing her season total to 47 through three matches. By comparison, Allen is outpacing Lake, who had 44 digs through her first three matches as a Cougar.
Last week, Allen earned West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for her double-digit dig totals in BYU’s pair of victories over conference foe Portland.
A native of Temecula, California, Allen was a VolleyballMag.com Fab 50 recruit in BYU’s 2020 recruiting class. A class that was ranked 14th nationally by PrepVolleyball.com.
Allen and BYU Women’s Volleyball is back in action on Tuesday, February 9th and 10th against the Gonzaga Bulldogs at the historic Smith Fieldhouse. Both matches will be televised on BYUtv.
