Utah State Takes Down Fresno State With Second Half Surge

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah State Aggies needed a big second half in order to take down Fresno State on the road with a 69-53 victory on Thursday night.
After taking a 33-29 halftime lead, Utah State outscored Fresno State 36-24 in the second half to cruise to the win.
Neemias Queta led all scorers with 14 points, along with 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. Alphonso Anderson added 13 points and 4 boards off the bench. Steven Ashworth was the third Aggie that scored in double figures with 10 points to go with 4 assists.
Utah State shot 50 percent (26-52) from the field, 43 percent from the three-point line (6-14) and 73 percent (11-15) from the free throw line. They were also sharing the ball, dishing out 17 assists on 26 field goals made.
Fresno State didn’t have anyone score in double figures. Christian Gray had 9 points off the bench to lead the Bulldogs, while Orlando Robinson contributed 8 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. They struggled offensively, shooting just 37 percent (20-54) from the floor, 21 percent (4-19) from the perimeter and 69 percent (9-13) from the free throw line.
Utah State improved their record to 14-5 overall and 11-2 in Mountain West Conference play. They will stay in California to battle Fresno State in a rematch on Saturday, February 6 at 8 p.m. MST. The game will be televised on FS1.
