SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is a “hot commodity” expected to be pursued by multiple teams this offseason, according to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Bonsignore reported on February 2, that “several NFL insiders expect the Raiders to field calls from teams inquiring about Carr’s availability.”
The potential of acquiring Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was one of the reasons listed by the Raiders insider as a motive for a would-be Carr deal.
“Derek Carr’s outstanding season has made him a sought-after commodity for teams in need of a quarterback and could open the door for the Raiders to pursue Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson,” Bonsignore wrote.
Multiple @NFL sources indicate to me that Derek Carr is a hot commodity. And it is expected that multiple teams will pursue him via trade That could lead to the @Raiders pursuing Deshaun Watson in a blockbuster trade. My story:https://t.co/rnxHJK9KC0

The Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, and the Washington Football Team were listed as possible destinations by Bonsignore.
In recent weeks, reports have surfaced that Watson is unhappy in Houston and has requested a trade away from the organization that drafted him in 2017.
Watson is considered by many as one of the league’s top young quarterbacks.
This past season, Watson and the Texans finished with a 4-12 record. Houston fired former head coach Bill O’Brien early in the season.
This offseason, Houston reportedly hired new general manager Nick Caserio without consulting Watson.
Watson threw for a league-high 4,823 yards in 2020. He also tossed 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
