SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Donovan Mitchell will miss tonight’s game against the Dallas Mavericks after entering the NBA’s concussion protocol.
Mitchell and the Jazz beat the New York Knicks last night 108-94, though the guard struggled, shooting 3-15 from the floor for just nine points.
The team said Mitchell’s first concussion-like symptoms occurred this morning.

“Mitchell will miss tonight’s game vs. Dallas, entering the NBA’s concussion protocol,” the release read. “His symptoms inking him to a possible concussion occurred this morning after the game against the New York Knicks last night. Mitchell will continue to be monitored as he progresses through concussion protocol.”
The guard was shaken up a few times against New York after suffering physical blows to his upper body.
Most notably, Mitchell was on the receiving end of a stray elbow from the Knicks Austin Rivers that left the guard visibly shaken on the sidelines. Mitchell remained in the game after the play was reviewed for a possible flagrant foul, but was ultimately ruled a common offensive foul.
Mitchell is averaging 23.4 points, 4.9 assists, and 4.3 rebounds for the Jazz this season.
The Jazz and Mavericks will tip-off at 7 pm MST, and the game will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet.
