SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Donovan Mitchell scored 28 points to help the Utah Jazz knock off the New Orleans Pelicans 118-102 for their sixth straight win.

Mitchell scored 15 points in the first quarter to get things started and the Utah Jazz had a big third quarter outscoring the New Orleans Pelicans 36-20 which separated themselves in order to pick up the win.

Mike Conley struggled offensively, scoring just 6 points but dished out 10 assists. Rudy Gobert notched a double-double with 13 points, 18 rebounds and 3 blocks. Bojan Bogdanovic added 11 points and 7 boards.

Utah scorched the nets from beyond the arc, knocking down 44 percent of their threes on 21-of-47 shooting. New Orleans made just six of their 26 attempts from the perimeter.

For the Pelicans, Zion Williamson led all scorers with 32 points, along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists on 14-of-19 from the field. Brandon Ingram chipped in 17 points and 4 assists.

Mitchell, Jazz Make Plays On Baseline Against New Orleans Pelicans

The Jazz were making some phenomenal plays along the baseline, especially in the first half. It started with Georges Niang when Joe Ingles threw him the ball in the corner. Niang pump faked Zion Williamson before driving past him and finishing with a one-handed dunk.

Just moments later, Jordan Clarkson made a ridiculous circus reverse layup. Clarkson dribbled twice to his right before switching to the left towards the baseline, shaking Josh Hart as he went to the rim and threw the ball up over his head for the reverse layup.

Probably the best play of the night on the baseline was when Donovan Mitchell was driving the basket near the end of the second quarter. Mitchell went up in the air under the backboard, over Eric Bledsoe when he launched an under-hand pass all the way to Bojan Bogdanovic at the top of the arc. Bogey nailed the three to give the Jazz a 55-49 lead at the break.

Joe Ingles With Big Performance In Return For Utah Jazz

Utah was able to get the services of Joe Ingles back after the Australian missed the last three games and five of the last six contests. In his first game back, Ingles dropped 15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and one block, while shooting 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. He was +13 for the Jazz.

Jordan Clarkson helped the Jazz like always off the bench with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists, along with four triples. Georges Niang contributed 10 points and Derrick Favors dropped 9 points and 7 boards against his old team.

Those four players scored 52 of their 54 bench points. Shaquille Harrison scored two points at the end of the game. The Pelicans had 31 points from their second unit.

The Jazz improved their record to 10-4 on the season and have now won six straight games. They will have a rematch with the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday, January 21 at Vivint Smart Home Arena. The game will tip-off at 8 p.m. MST and will be televised on TNT.
