SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell had a tremendous first quarter against the New Orleans Pelicans with 15 points on Tuesday night.

Donovan Mitchell played 11 minutes of the first quarter as the Jazz took a 29-24 lead over the Pelicans at the end of the first. Mitchell had a strong finish against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night with 16 second half points and picked up where he left off in the opening quarter on Tuesday.

Scoring over half of Utah’s points in the first, Mitchell shot 6-of-7 from the field, 2-for-3 from the three-point line and 1-of-1 at the free throw line.

Rudy Gobert had 4 points, Joe Ingles and Jordan Clarkson each hit a three-pointer. Bojan Bogdanovic and Derrick Favors each scored two points.

Zion Williamson had 10 points for New Orleans on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting. Brandon Ingram, Steven Adams and Eric Bledsoe each had 4 points. Nickeil Alexander-Walker added two points off the bench.

In the win over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, Mitchell had just two points on 1-of-10 shooting from the floor and 0-for-6 from beyond the arc. He scored 8 points in both the third and fourth quarters to help the Jazz pick up the win.

The Jazz are beginning a six game home stand with the Pelicans on Tuesday. They will play seven of their next eight games at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
