Real Salt Lake Legend Javier Morales Eligible For Hall Of Fame Induction

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Real Salt Lake midfielder and legend of the club Javier Morales is now eligible to join the National Soccer Hall of Fame’s class of 2021.
Morales, nicknamed “The Maestro”, played a pivotal role for RSL for nine years helping guide the club to its only MLS Championship in 2009. Morales was best known for his silky smooth and creative instinct.

During his time with RSL, he appeared in 261 games scoring 53 goals and assisting on a club record 92 occasions.
Morales enters his first year of eligibility following his retirement three years ago. He joins a class that includes recently hired Assistant Coach Pablo Mastroeni who starred as a player for Colorado Rapids.
Other players with ties to RSL include Jeff Cunningham and Chris Klein.

The Hall of Fame also released a new Selection Committee, which was established as part of 2020 election revisions, for the first time. The committees will begin deliberations this week to select a three- or four-member Class of 2021 from the 245 candidates who appear on the Player, Veteran and Builder ballots.
This years Hall of Fame ceremony will also involve the 2020 class whose celebrations were cut short due to the global coronavirus pandemic. The 2021 Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled for May 22nd and will be hosted by the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
