Former Weber State Star Taron Johnson Ties NFL Postseason Record In Divisional Round Win

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU and current Green Bay running back Jamaal Williams helped the Packers run past the Los Angeles Rams and into the NFC Championship game.

Williams and the Packers defeated the Rams in the NFC Divisional Round, 32-18.

Here is how all of the players with ties to the state of Utah fared during the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs.

Former Utah Utes

Tyler Huntley – Quarterback– Baltimore Ravens (12-6)

The former Utah quarterback entered the game late in the third quarter when Lamar Jackson entered concussion protocol. Huntley completed 6 of his 13 pass attempts for 60 yards and ran three times for 32 yards in the Ravens’ 17-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Zack Moss – Running Back – Buffalo Bills (15-3)

The former Utah running back did not play in the AFC Divisional Round after getting placed on the Injured Reserve with an ankle injury that he suffered in the AFC Wild Card game. The Bills beat the Baltimore Ravens, 17-3.

Brian Allen – Cornerback – Cleveland Browns (12-6)

The former Utah defensive back and the Browns suffered a 22-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Terrell Burgess – Safety – Los Angeles Rams (11-7)

The former Utes defensive back is out for the season after suffering a broken ankle on Monday Night Football during Week 7 of the season. The Rams suffered a 32-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Matt Gay – Kicker – Los Angeles Rams (11-7)

The former Utes place kicker made a 37-yard field goal in Los Angeles’ 32-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Chase Hansen – Linebacker – New Orleans Saints (13-5)

The former Utes defensive back and the Saints suffered a 30-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Marcus Williams – Safety – New Orleans Saints (13-5)

The former Utes defensive back had five total tackles and four solo tackles in the Saints’ 30-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Sione Takitaki – Linebacker – Cleveland Browns (12-6)

The former BYU linebacker had five total tackles and three solo tackles in the Browns’ 22-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jamaal Williams – Running Back – Green Bay Packers (14-3)

The former BYU running back had 12 carries for 65 yards in Green Bay’s 32-18 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Daniel Sorensen – Safety – Kansas City Chiefs (15-2)

The former BYU defensive back had six total tackles, four solo tackles, and a quarterback hit in the Chiefs’ 22-17 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Taysom Hill – Quarterback – New Orleans Saints (13-5)

The former BYU quarterback was inactive for the NFC Divisional Round because of a knee injury. The Saints suffered a 30-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jordan Love – Quarterback – Green Bay Packers (14-3)

The former Utah State quarterback was inactive for Green Bay’s 32-18 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Darwin Thompson – Running Back – Kansas City Chiefs (15-2)

The former Aggie running back and the Chiefs defeated the Cleveland Browns, 22-17.

JoJo Natson – Wide Receiver – Cleveland Browns (12-6)

After week three, the former Utah State receiver was ruled out for the season with an injury. The Browns lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, 22-17.

Taron Johnson – Cornerback – Buffalo Bills (14-3)

The former Weber State defensive back returned an interception 101-yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter of Buffalo’s 17-3 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Johnson finished the game with six total tackles, six solo tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass breakup, one interception, and a touchdown.
