First Half
Stanford must’ve watched the film on Utah’s last two games because the Utes are not able to get off to a strong start like they did against Oregon and Colorado. Cardinal jumped out to a 7-4 lead in the first three minutes of the game.
Branden Carlson came in and scored right away with a 16-foot jumper. He had one of his best games of his career against Colorado. Stanford had a 9-6 lead with 15:54 left in the first half.
Under-16 Timeout
Coming out of the timeout, Utah went on a 5-0 run after Alfonso Plummer came in and knocked down a corner three-pointer. He needs to have a big game if Utah wants to snap this losing streak.
The Utes ended that segment strong with a a 9-2 run and have a 15-11 lead with 11:57 left until halftime.

Under-12 Timeout
Utah’s defense has been very impressive over the last five minutes of play. Stanford has scored one point during that stretch but unfortunately, the Utes haven’t been able to capitalize offensively.
As that was typed, Stanford’s standout freshman Ziaire Williams knocked down back-to-back three-pointers. At the media timeout, Utah had a one point lead, 19-18 with 6:56 left in the half.
Under-8 Timeout
Not a ton of scoring in the last 3:11 since the last media timeout. Utah put up 4 points and Stanford had 5. The game was tied at 23 at the media timeout.
Under-4 Timeout
Utah went on a 6-0 run after the under-4 media timeout and took a 29-23 lead. Even with the scoring difficulties, Utah was on a 9-0 run and Stanford was held scoreless for another 3 minutes and change before Ziaire Williams snapped the drought with a pair of free throws.
Alfonso Plummer extended the lead to 9 with a triple. At the half, Utah was up 34-25.
Second Half
Rylan Jones hit a much-needed three-pointer to start the second half. The sophomore has been struggling shooting the ball in the last two games. After Allen made a layup, the Utes gave another second half punch to Stanford as Mikael Jantunen made a layup while getting fouled. He made the free throw and stretched Utah’s lead to 42-28.
Compared to the last two games for the Utes, this second half has been much better. At the first media timeout of the half, Utah was up 44-31 with 15:40 left in the game.
Under-16 Media Timeout
Alfonso Plummer was able to get fouled on a three-point attempt (nearly knocked it down). After making all three free throws, Utah was up by 14.
Both teams scored two points before the next media timeout.
Under-12 Media Timeout
Utah fans might start getting anxious after the Cardinal went on a 9-0 run and Utah’s big lead is now just 9 points with under 9 minutes left.
Pelle Larsson stopped the run and put the lead back to double digits with a layup. With 7:26 remaining in the game, Utah had a 57-46 lead over the Cardinal.
Under-8 Media Timeout
Stanford is hanging in there and staying with the Utes. But the difference between the Oregon and Colorado games and this one for Utah? The Utes are not folding or collapsing. They have kept their lead despite Stanford getting close at times.
At the final media timeout of the game, Utah was up 67-56 with 3:52 left.
Under-4 Media Timeout
The Utes are finishing strong with some great ball movement while getting stops and forcing Stanford to turn the ball over. It looks like their 4-game losing streak will come to an end.
