Alex Smith Tosses Go-Ahead Touchdown Pass Prior To Halftime Of Washington, Eagles Game

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Utes and current Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith threw a go-ahead touchdown prior to halftime against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles hosted Washington on Sunday, January 3.
With 20 seconds remaining in the first half, Smith floated a pass to tight end Logan Thomas, who leaped above an Eagle defender to catch the ball for a touchdown.
Smith’s toss to Thomas gave Washington a 17-14 lead over Philadelphia.

It was Smith’s second score of the contest and gave Washington a three-point advantage at the halftime break.
After the score, Smith was 17/22 passing for 131 yards for two touchdowns. He had a rating of 121.6.

With 4:19 left in the opening quarter, the former Utah quarterback bulleted a five-yard throw to wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
The strike gave Washington a 7-0 lead.

It was the first game Smith played in since he suffered a calf strain on December 13.
This season, Washington owns a 4-1 record with Smith as the team’s starting quarterback, including four consecutive wins.
Smith entered the contest has thrown for 1,420 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions with a 66.4 percent completion rate.
Washington came into the matchup with a 6-9 record this season. A victory over the Eagles would clinch a postseason berth for Washington.
