Washington QB Alex Smith Throws Dart For Touchdown On Opening Drive Against Eagles

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Utes and current Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith threw a dart for a touchdown pass on the first possession of the game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles hosted Washington on Sunday, January 3.
With 4:19 left in the opening quarter, Smith bulleted a five-yard throw to wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
The strike gave Washington a 7-0 lead.

After the play, Smith was 7/8 passing for 61 yards and one touchdown.
He owned a 138.0 rating on the opening drive.

It was the first game Smith played in since he suffered a calf strain on December 13.
This season, Washington owns a 4-1 record with Smith as the team’s starting quarterback, including four consecutive wins.
Smith entered the contest has thrown for 1,420 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions with a 66.4 percent completion rate.

Washington came into the matchup with a 6-9 record this season. A victory over the Eagles would clinch a postseason berth for Washington.
