Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert Lead Mini Run For Jazz Against Timberwolves
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz were in desperate need of a run in the second half in their home opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
They got that from their two star players Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.
The Jazz were trailing 86-70 with just over one minute remaining in the third quarter. That mini run trimmed Minnesota’s lead to 86-75. Then former Jazzman Ricky Rubio made two free throws to stop the run. Mitchell had a driving layup to cut the lead to 11 points. The Jazz star guard attempted another driving layup but it missed. Gobert was near the rim and collected the rebound before throwing it down for a two-handed dunk.
The Timberwolves had an 88-79 lead at the end of the first quarter. Utah ended the quarter on a 10-2 run.
Donovan Mitchell found his energy late in the third quarter and it's led to easy looks at the rim for the Jazz.
